I didn't see any discussion post about the first episode of the brand new anime of Blue Period, so I thought it would be a good idea to make one. Mods, if you decide to create one, feel free to delete this one.

In my case, I liked the first episode. Yatora's a lovable guy, same with his group of friends. I really liked Saeki-sensei's moments. Her "ara ara" gives me energy, lol. It was nice seeing Yuka-chan and Mori-senpai, too.

This episode also came out the same year as the Little Rascals movie, which was centered around the same kind of derby race (not to mention also featuring flamboyant Derek), trying to do for derby races what Mighty Ducks did for street hockey.

Countless times in this show, basically every episode, they bring up something that is so very important to somebody, for one episode. Then it (he, she, etc.) is never heard of, or heard from again. DJ had a horse in an early season, she loved it so much she bought it and brought it home. Never saw that horse again!

To be fair, the jokes that Danny and Jesse made about Michelle and Becky being inept at building a car were very, very obviously sarcastic. Seriously, I just watched the episode this morning (and not ashamed to admit it :)), and there was nothing malicous about their jokes. They are literally talking in faux macho voices and overexaggerating to emphasize the joke. Even the way Becky responds makes it clear that no one is being serious.

Not that anyone really even cared, but a google search tells me that Jodie Sweetin did break her arm in a soccer game. It actually says that it was broken in the episode filmed right before this one, but it was too late to add it into that story (even as sloppy as they did here), so they just put her in a long sleeved flannel shirt to hide it, then dealt with it this episode.

The episode begins with Yatora asking Saeki-sensei if she thinks he could get into an art school, to which she replies, "I don't know." We see that Ayukawa was listening in on their conversation from the other room. Afterwards, Yatora is confronted by his career guidance counselor, who says that going to art school would be a waste of Yatoras potential, to which Yatora replies that he is serious about going to an art school, but that Tokyo University of the Arts was his only option. He then admits that he has not told his parents about his decision yet.

At graduation, the club members say a bittersweet goodbye to Mori. Yatora gives Mori a letter, which has a drawing of her encased. The episode ends with a photo of the art club together at graduation.

Netflix acquiring rights to stream it gave me even more pause, because the typical experience with them is either waiting six months until they decide to release it in multiple languages or going through less legal means to see it. Then I heard that the episodes would be released weekly, albeit with a short delay between international release and Japan, and decided it might not be so bad.

But, as I watched episode one, those concerns I had disappeared. It was the little things that made me sure that Blue Period was in good hands, especially after rereading the first two chapters that this episode covers. There are clear differences from the start, but this one little tweak immediately made me know the people behind this anime care.

The series was picked up for 10 episodes and debuted on Comedy Central on June 23, 2015. It was directed by Jeremy Konner, co-creator and writer of Drunk History. Ben Stiller's production company Red Hour produced. Leggero, Lindhome, and Konner also served as executive producers.[3] The second season premiered on June 15, 2016.[4] On May 23, 2016, it was renewed for a third season,[5] which premiered on January 23, 2018.[6] In November 2018, Comedy Central announced it canceled the series after three seasons.[7]

The episode ends with a symbolic dream about Mother Nature's weirdness as Sharon is hiking in the woods and she encounters Adam holding a plate of fries, multiple Alysons, Josh playing the piano, and flying in the air with her mother until she wakes up from said strange dream. She thinks nothing of it and goes back to sleep.

Given the rave reviews the series has been receiving - not to mention gleaming approval from my picky brother - I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I was hooked from the very first episode. The series had everything I had been craving; complex characters, an intriguing storyline and a flawed, but badass protagonist with an incredible sense of style. But despite the show's empowering undertones, it gets a few things wrong. Starting with the menstruation scene in episode two.

In the episode, we find Beth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) close to winning the Kentucky State Chess Championship. She has just beaten Townes in a match, (whom she has a crush on) when she unexpectedly feels a cramp in her lower abdomen. Clutching her stomach, trying not to draw attention to herself, Beth scurries to bathroom as blood streams down her leg.

Winners Win. Period.Season oneEpisode elevenPremiereAugust 10, 2018Written byLauren Gussis

Michael EllisDirected byLev L. SpiroPrevious episodeNext episodeBanana Heart BananaWhy Bad Things Happen"Winners Win. Period." is the eleventh episode on the first season of the American black comedy-drama web television series, Insatiable.

The episode "Coming Of Age" aired in the U.S. in 2002, and just like her character, McDonald was around 13 when filming. "To be honest, when that script came along I remember feeling a little bit mortified," she recalls over the phone. "The only thing I kept thinking was, 'Oh my gosh, how am I going to get through this?'"

Yet seeing the way Emma handled it, like "a hero," actually helped the actor IRL. Near the end of the episode, Emma winds up having to borrow way-too-big basketball shorts. When her classmates mock her outfit, teasing that she must've peed her pants, she snaps back, "No, I just got my period, for the first time. Menstruation, you may have heard of it. It happens to oh, 50 percent of the population?"

Since this episode was from the very first season, the impact the scene would have wasn't immediately apparent to McDonald. But she says now, "I think teenage girls need something like that, because it's an awkward topic, it's not usually something that comes up casually in everyday conversation."

Interesting. Could happen one day i think..that is, an episode dealing with her period. Never really thought about whether she's had her first yet or not. If they do ever address it, we might learn she's already had it, like maybe she'll say something about spending money on tampons or something for example.

BB definitely wouldn't shy away from showing a box of tampons, we could definitely see that eventually in the show. They've already had two episodes with the kids exposed to sex toys, and one where they went to a strip club lol!

A whole episode about Tina having her period would probably have to end up being a pretty serious episode if they don't want to cause a controversy. KOTH was a more realistic, somewhat more serious show, and the politics of the times and the two shows are very different IMO. There's a lot of KOTH episodes i still haven't watched, and i don't think i saw the one with Connie having her period. Was it a fairly serious episode? I wouldn't want to see a really serious episode about Tina and her period, i'm starting to feel like BB is getting too serious too much the last couple seasons.

This is off the subject of Tina of course, but there was that episode where they talked about Gene using Linda's maxi pads as pillows or a comfort object or something. Pretty twisted of those writers! lol

I mean I do vaguely recall Louise refering to her mother and sister as the "Menstruation Nation"; but of course Linda and Tina were not around to hear her say this, sorry I can't be more specific with which episode and season

I think she hasn't, because i feel like there would be at least one mention of it, like Linda in an episode says "it will take *me* weeks to get through those" (talking about maxi pads), and deosnt include tina like she uses them either.

You guys, it was so much better. I mean, don't get me wrong, this show is infinitely enjoyable to me, but there's something really fabulous about choosing to only experience the show episodes that bring you joy (which is the only context in which I'll ever Marie Kondo my life, by the way).

S2.E1. - The Kiss. God, this is the beginning of Dawson and Joey kissing on the regular and it's so gross. I have no idea what sort of person James Van Der Beek is, but I find him and all the characters he's ever played really off-putting, so this run of episodes is tough. Nevertheless, The Kiss is important for the entire series' main story, so watch it. It also features the introduction of Jack and Andie, who become members of the core group. Bonus: Pacey frosts his hair!

S2.E15. & E15. - To Be or Not to Be... & ...That is the Question. This pair of episodes are significant in terms of Jack's story arc and coming out. Sometimes we forget it, but this was a big deal in 1999. It was actually pretty well handled, and there's a nice Pacey moment in which he stands up for Jack against an awful teacher.

S2.E18. - A Perfect Wedding. This episode is kind of terrible. Jen's spiraling out of control, Dawson's angsting and the whole thing is a hot mess. But Abby Morgan dies, and this is important in terms of catching an amusing reference in a S6 episode I love, Clean & Sober. But you can probably skip it. 2351a5e196
