Packing List
Pack for a normal quarter, with a few extra items for field work!
- comfortable closed-toe shoes for lab work
- laundry detergent
- a credit card for laundry (the laundry machines in Swope only take credit cards)
- toiletries
- clothing for all weather - clothing for warm and cold weather (boots, hat, winter coat, gloves), rain clothes
- beach towel (you cannot use your bathroom towels for the beach)
- sunscreen
- laptop computer
- school supplies
- water bottle
- polarized sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat
- snacks
- comfy study clothes and pajamas
- a warm pair of comfortable slippers for when you are in your rooms (I highly recommend this!)
- anything else you would usually bring to a dorm room
- wristwatch (waterproof!!!)
- shower shoes
For Marine Specimen Collections
- water shoes (any shoes you will be comfortable with in the water – they can be the rubber-sole sock-like ones, Teva-style sandals, or even old gym shoes)
- you should not purchase waders, these will be provided to you and used in cold temperatures
- clothing for marine specimen collections (can be mostly regular clothing with a waterproof jacket - they should be clothing you don't mind getting dirty)
- dry clothing to keep you warm when you get out of the water (for example, a towel and sweat pants and a sweat shirt)
- goggles (totally optional – in case you want a better look in the water!)
- a waterproof container for your phone (can be a ziplock bag or a waterproof container with a lanyard)
