Once there was a little one year old girl named Melissa. She had a big first birthday with lots colorful balloons and many gifts. Of all the gifts, one stood out from the rest and that was her little white rocking horse
At first her daddy had to help her ride the horse and she was a little bit afraid, but in no time she grew to love it dearly.
In fact, by her second birthday, she would rock on her horse all the time. Melissa loved her little white rocking horse.
The little while rocking horse became Melissa’s best friend. She would host tea parties with her other toys and the little white rocking horse would always be the guest of honor.
At Melissa’s fifth birthday a shiny pink bicycle was brought into her life. As much as she loved her little white rocking horse, she loved her bicycle more.
As the years went on, the little white rocking horse saw less and less of Melissa as she went off to school. And boy was her bedroom getting crowded. There were stuffed animals, a dollhouse and more. But Melissa always gave her little white rocking horse a kiss in the morning and another before she went to bed.
As Melissa became a teenager, the little white rocking horse was over taken by posters, CDs, makeup and other knick-knacks a teenage girl needs. Without much hesitation, the little white rocking horse was moved into the basement with many other forgotten toys. The little white rocking horse waited day after day for Melissa to come down and play, but it seemed she had been forgotten.
The little white rocking horse looked at itself and saw that its paint had faded and peeled and it wasn’t nearly as beautiful as it had once been. “No wonder why she doesn’t play with me anymore,” thought the little white rocking horse. Sad, the little white rocking horse fell into a long deep sleep.
Then, one day, the little white rocking horse was awakened by someone moving some stuff. It was Melissa’s daddy. He looked MUCH older. He took the little white rocking horse into the workshop and took out some very noisy tools. “He must be going to cut me up for firewood,” thought the little white rocking horse. “At least I can provide something before I am forgotten for good,” she thought.
But instead of cutting up the horse, Melissa’s daddy painted it and made it beautiful again! “Oh boy,” thought the horse, “My Melissa must be coming home!”
The little white rocking horse was loaded into the car and taken to a new home where it was set amongst many presents. It looked like Melissa’s first birthday all over again.
But then a little version of Melissa came running in. “Come see what grand-daddy brought for you little Lisa.” Melissa said to the little girl.
Little Lisa climbed up onto the horse and her mommy rocked her a little. Lisa laughed and patted the horse. “Take good care of her little Lisa, “Melissa said to her daughter, “This is mommy’s favorite toy in the whole world!”
Lisa hugged the little white rocking horse and squealed with excitement. The little white rocking horse was so happy. Not only did she have her best friend Melissa back, but now she had a new friend who she could love and grow up with.
