MY OBSERVATION AND INFUSION OF ANKARA IN ART

(ALANKARA)

The word "ANKARA" is used to denote a style of clothing and fabric that prints traditional African designs, colors, patterns, and symbols on cotton using a wax-based process.

Typically, it all refers to African-centered fabrics, textile, and apparel.

In other words, the best way to conceptualize ankara is as a custom, regional fashion, or style.

a plethora of hues, tones, and shades that significantly adds characters to the patterning.

In my distinctive art pieces, I explore and revisit the beauty, colours, hues and character that each ankara holds as I embrace the soul and spirit of the ankara.

Alankara: which simply means one who indulges or decorates themselves with ankara (An African native fabric) and also, finds pleasure in doing so.
