IT'S COOL to be KIND!Compassion and respect equals success!
Hello and welcome to our website. I am the proud founder of MAYA CARES. Allow me to tell you how it all began...
At a very young age I was involved in the entertainment industry (my very first job was at 18 months for a Huggies Pull-Ups commerical). From the time I could remember, my mom would take me on auditions in and around the Los Angeles area. Sadly, I was a witness to a tremendous amount of poverty and homelessness during that time. I was constantly asking my mom if we could help. We would often buy meals for adults and children living on the streets. One day, when I was around 5 or 6 years old, my mom challenged me to come up with an idea of how I could help combat homelessness. She asked me straight out, "What can you do to help?" and that was the day I decided to dedicate myself to the cause.
Soon after, MAYA C.A.R.E.S. was born. CARES stands for Compassion And Respect Equals Success. Today I am the CEO and founder of MAYA CARES, 501 (c)3 public charity. I supply CARE bags to those in need in and around my local community. My CARE bags currently consist of masks, school supplies and small toys for children, toiletries, socks, beanies, snacks, water, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and additional necessity items. I currently partner with the YWCA Wings Domestic Violence Prevention Program and Shelter and supply needed items to the adults and children living there. I dedicate my free time to collecting donations and gathering items for my CARE bags. I have a passion for philanthropy. It identifies who I am, and who I hope to always be. This quote by the remarkable, Maya Angelou (my namesake), describes me well - "Nothing will work, unless you do." I feel that giving from the heart is the greatest gift I can offer to our world and I am dedicated to working hard to promote kindness, compassion, and respect where ever I go.
Love,
Maya
