If you want a heavy-duty, all-weather tire chock that stays put on gravel slopes or snowy driveways, choose MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel; if you need a complete set of high-visibility, waterproof amber marker lights to keep your van compliant and safe at night, choose FXC 10x. These two products solve completely different problems for the van life enthusiast, and picking the wrong one leaves you either with a vehicle that won't stay still or a rig that is invisible in the dark.
• MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel: Its biggest strength is its rugged, solid rubber construction designed to crush-proof itself against heavy vehicle weight without deforming; however, it is a single-purpose safety tool that does nothing for visibility or electrical systems. This pick is for anyone prioritizing mechanical stability and preventing rollaways in extreme weather.
• FXC 10x: Its biggest strength is the IP68 waterproof sealing and high-output LED brightness that ensures compliance and safety across all vehicle types; however, it is a lighting component that requires wiring and installation rather than a passive block. This pick is for van dwellers needing to upgrade their side markers or replace failing lights on trailers and campers.
The MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel Chock is built for the person who sleeps in a van parked on uneven ground. Unlike plastic alternatives that might shatter under the weight of a heavy camper van or SUV, this solid rubber design is engineered specifically to maintain stability under significant load. When you are parking on a steep incline at a campground or trying to secure a trailer in a garage during a storm, the integrity of the chock matters more than anything else.
It features non-slip traction pads molded directly into the surface. This detail is critical because it grips pavement, gravel, and oily garage floors to prevent any tire movement. If you have ever watched a vehicle inch forward on a slope because a flimsy chock slid out from under the tire, you know why this high-friction surface is essential. The integrated handle allows you to place or remove the chock quickly without tools, which is a practical necessity when you are setting up camp in the rain or snow.
This product is ideal for owners of cars, trucks, trailers, and RVs who face varied terrain. The dimensions of roughly 8" x 4" x 6" make it space-efficient enough to fit inside storage compartments when not in use, yet large enough to provide substantial resistance against rolling. However, if you are looking for a solution that helps you see your vehicle in the dark or keeps other drivers aware of your presence, this chock will do absolutely nothing for you. It is purely a mechanical safety device for stopping motion, not a visual aid.

The FXC 10x assembly is designed for the van lifter who needs to ensure their vehicle is visible and legally compliant on the road. This kit includes ten amber round LED side marker lights, each measuring just 3/4" in diameter. The small size allows for discreet mounting on fenders or sides without ruining the aesthetic of a custom van build, while the high-quality PC lens and silicone grommets protect the internal components. You get a full set that covers front, rear, and side positions, making it perfect for updating older vehicles or outfitting new builds.
Safety is the primary driver here, and the specs back that up. Each light uses three 2835 SMD chips to output strong light, maximizing visibility for other drivers. The unit is rated IP68, meaning it is completely sealed against water and dust. For someone living in a van, this durability is non-negotiable. You will be washing your vehicle frequently, driving through mud, and parking in humid conditions. An IP68 rating guarantees that moisture and dirt cannot penetrate the housing, ensuring the lights continue to work even after years of exposure.
Installation is straightforward with a no-screw grommet design and simple wire connections where black is negative and yellow is positive. This makes it accessible for DIYers who want to avoid complex electrical work but still need professional-grade results. The lights function as side markers, clearance lights, identification lights, and can serve as tail lights, stop lights, or brake lights depending on your wiring setup. However, if you are looking for a passive tool that stops a vehicle from moving without any electrical input, these lights are not the answer. They require a power source and proper circuit integration to function.
• Best for preventing rollaways on slopes → MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel. The solid rubber construction and non-slip pads provide the physical resistance needed to hold a heavy vehicle stationary.
• Best for nighttime visibility and safety → FXC 10x. The high-output LEDs and IP68 waterproofing ensure your van is seen by traffic in all weather conditions.
• Best for harsh weather durability (rain/snow/oil) → MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel. It is explicitly engineered to withstand UV exposure, oil, and freezing temperatures without cracking.
• Best for long-term electrical reliability → FXC 10x. With a claimed lifetime of 100,000 hours and anti-cracking materials, these lights are built to last without flickering or failing.
• Best for easy, tool-free placement → MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel. The built-in handle lets you move the chock instantly without digging for tools.
• Best for comprehensive vehicle coverage → FXC 10x. A pack of ten lights allows you to equip the entire perimeter of a van, truck, or trailer system.
• Best for compact storage → MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel. At 8" x 4" x 6", the pair fits easily into tight spaces behind seats or in gear lockers.
• Best for universal fitment → FXC 10x. The 3/4" flush mount and 12V DC design work on almost any vehicle type, from ATVs to semi-trailers.
In my opinion, for a van life setup, the FXC 10x is the priority purchase if you are currently missing functional lighting. No amount of tire chocking will save you from an accident caused by poor visibility, and the IP68 waterproofing ensures your lights survive the elements. However, once your visibility is secured, the MAXXHAUL Solid Rubber Wheel becomes the essential companion for securing your home-on-wheels at night. I would buy the FXC 10x first to ensure I am seen, then add the MAXXHAUL chocks to ensure I don't move. Both are vital, but safety starts with being visible.
