Summary
Picasso At The Lapin Agile takes place in 1904, the start of a new century, during the second industrial revolution. Picasso is at the tail end of his Blue period and is searching for something new while Einstein is theorizing about how the universe works. There is a massive discovery just around the corner for both of the men. The Lapin Agile is the small bar this humorous show takes place in which lies along one of the many busy streets of Paris, France. This show is a humorous take on Picasso's transition from his blue period to his red period and Einstein's discovery of his equation E=MC^2. through Picasso and Einstein meeting at the Lapin Agile and their eventual understanding of the others similar thinking process, they are both able to reach their ground breaking conclusions.

Picasso At The Lapin Agile was the sound design I took to Texas Thespians in 2023 and qualified to compete at the International Thespians Festival at the University of Indiana. For many of these ques I focused on entrances as that is where most of the sound design comes from for this show. I planned to use directional sound to indicate to the audience which door would be opening next.

I planned to use directional sound to indicate to the audience which door would be opening next.
The start is the general background music that plays through out the majority of the show, there is then a door opening noise played from stage right, indicating the front door is opening, as the music quickly shifts to the theme music for Schmendiman. This music is upbeat, a bit quicker in pace, and sounds almost posh, which is how Schmendiman acts in relation to the rest of the cast.

The start is the general background music that plays through out the majority of the show, there is then a toilet flush and door opening noise played from stage left, indicating it is the bathroom door opening. The music soon shifts to music not of this time period, implying that this Unnamed 50's singer is, obviously, not from this time period.

This Que plays as Picasso finally had is great discovery and realization of what steps he wants to take next in his artistic career. There is a sense of wonder and hope that this song holds that truly brings out how Picasso feels on the edge of the his next big step in life.

This Que sheet is every single que I had planned out, but I only made the three above as the show was not fully realized and I only wanted to make what I was going to show.
Speaker Plot
Speaker Plot
The speaker plot shows the general idea for the stage design that I had seen on many other productions but placed on my home stage in Cypress Ranch theatre. Their are two dead hung speakers on stage left and right to provide some of the directional sound coming from right above the doors. To compliment these there are two more speakers on the left and right of the stage facing the audience and one mono speaker in the center just below the apron to provide a fuller coverage.

I used Artlist.io for my sound ques as my company has a subscription to their site, as well as Qlab which my company also has a subscription to, a Mac Book, and The pictures used were pulled from my company's Sumg Mug. I also used WeVideo to transfer the sound ques into a video format.
