Trezor Suite | Getting Started Secure Device & Setup
Trezor Suite is the official interface for managing a Trezor hardware wallet and supported cryptocurrency assets. It provides a convenient environment for connecting your device, viewing accounts, receiving and sending crypto, and managing wallet settings. If you are setting up a new Trezor for the first time, starting with the official Trezor Suite application helps you follow the recommended security process from the beginning.
Getting Started With Trezor Suite
The first step is to download Trezor Suite from an official Trezor source. Trezor recommends the desktop application for users on Windows, macOS, and Linux, while a web application is also available for supported browsers and devices. Before downloading, carefully check the website address to avoid phishing pages or fake applications. {"fallbackMarkdown":"(Trezor)","reference":{"matched_text":"","prefix":null,"start_idx":1139,"end_idx":1172,"safe_urls":["https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/download-verify-trezor-suite","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/download-verify-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/os-requirements-for-trezor","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/os-requirements-for-trezor?utm_source=chatgpt.com"],"refs":[],"alt":"(Trezor)","prompt_text":null,"type":"grouped_webpages","status":"done","error":null,"style":null,"fallback_items":null,"items":[{"title":"Download & verify Trezor Suite | Trezor","url":"https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/download-verify-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com","attribution":"Trezor","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution_segments":null,"supporting_websites":[{"title":"Operating system requirements & connectivity for Trezor Suite App | Trezor","url":"https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/os-requirements-for-trezor?utm_source=chatgpt.com","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution":"Trezor"}],"refs":[{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":3},{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":10}],"hue":null,"attributions":null}]},"showLoginRequiredCard":false}
For the latest installation instructions, visit the official Trezor Suite page. Downloading software directly from an official source is an important part of protecting your hardware wallet and cryptocurrency.
Once the application is installed, open it and connect your Trezor device using the appropriate connection method. Trezor Suite will recognize the device and guide you through the initial setup.
Connect and Verify Your Device
After connecting your hardware wallet, Trezor Suite guides you through a device security check. This process helps verify that the device is genuine before you continue with wallet initialization. If anything appears unusual about the device or its packaging, stop the setup and consult official Trezor support resources before proceeding. {"fallbackMarkdown":"(Trezor)","reference":{"matched_text":"","prefix":null,"start_idx":1990,"end_idx":2009,"safe_urls":["https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com"],"refs":[],"alt":"(Trezor)","prompt_text":null,"type":"grouped_webpages","status":"done","error":null,"style":null,"fallback_items":null,"items":[{"title":"Getting to know Trezor Suite | Trezor","url":"https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com","attribution":"Trezor","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution_segments":null,"supporting_websites":[],"refs":[{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":2}],"hue":null,"attributions":null}]},"showLoginRequiredCard":false}
The setup process varies slightly between Trezor models, but the general workflow includes connecting the device, installing firmware when required, creating or recovering a wallet, and establishing security settings.
Install the Latest Firmware
New Trezor devices may arrive without firmware installed. During setup, Trezor Suite guides you through installing the appropriate firmware. Follow the instructions shown by the application and on the hardware device.
Do not disconnect your Trezor while firmware installation is in progress. Trezor's documentation specifically warns that interrupting the installation can create problems with the device. {"fallbackMarkdown":"(Trezor)","reference":{"matched_text":"","prefix":null,"start_idx":2669,"end_idx":2689,"safe_urls":["https://trezor.io/documents/suite_terms_of_use.pdf","https://trezor.io/documents/suite_terms_of_use.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com"],"refs":[],"alt":"(Trezor)","prompt_text":null,"type":"grouped_webpages","status":"done","error":null,"style":null,"fallback_items":null,"items":[{"title":"01_Suite Terms and Conditions","url":"https://trezor.io/documents/suite_terms_of_use.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com","attribution":"Trezor","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution_segments":null,"supporting_websites":[],"refs":[{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":12}],"hue":null,"attributions":null}]},"showLoginRequiredCard":false}
After installation, the device may restart automatically and reconnect with Trezor Suite.
Create Your Wallet and Backup
If you are setting up a new wallet, select the option to create a new wallet and follow the instructions displayed in Trezor Suite. If you are restoring an existing wallet, use the recovery process appropriate for your device.
During new-wallet setup, you will be guided through creating a wallet backup. Write the backup words down exactly as instructed and keep them somewhere secure and offline. Your backup is highly sensitive information and should never be shared with anyone.
Most importantly, never enter your wallet backup words into an unfamiliar website, email, message, or support form. Trezor's web-app guidance states that Trezor Suite will not ask you to enter your wallet backup into a browser or application. {"fallbackMarkdown":"(Trezor)","reference":{"matched_text":"","prefix":null,"start_idx":3548,"end_idx":3567,"safe_urls":["https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/use-trezor-suite-in-your-browser-web-app","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/use-trezor-suite-in-your-browser-web-app?utm_source=chatgpt.com"],"refs":[],"alt":"(Trezor)","prompt_text":null,"type":"grouped_webpages","status":"done","error":null,"style":null,"fallback_items":null,"items":[{"title":"Use Trezor Suite in your browser (web app) | Trezor","url":"https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/use-trezor-suite-in-your-browser-web-app?utm_source=chatgpt.com","attribution":"Trezor","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution_segments":null,"supporting_websites":[],"refs":[{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":1}],"hue":null,"attributions":null}]},"showLoginRequiredCard":false}
Set a PIN and Secure Your Wallet
Depending on your Trezor model, setup will also guide you through creating a PIN. Keep the PIN private and avoid storing it together with your hardware wallet.
Once the security steps are complete, Trezor Suite opens your wallet dashboard. From there, you can activate supported assets, view portfolio information, receive cryptocurrency, send transactions, and access other available features. {"fallbackMarkdown":"(Trezor)","reference":{"matched_text":"","prefix":null,"start_idx":4002,"end_idx":4021,"safe_urls":["https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com"],"refs":[],"alt":"(Trezor)","prompt_text":null,"type":"grouped_webpages","status":"done","error":null,"style":null,"fallback_items":null,"items":[{"title":"Getting to know Trezor Suite | Trezor","url":"https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com","attribution":"Trezor","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution_segments":null,"supporting_websites":[],"refs":[{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":2}],"hue":null,"attributions":null}]},"showLoginRequiredCard":false}
Use Trezor Suite Safely
Security should remain a priority every time you use your wallet. Before approving a transaction, carefully review the address, amount, and network information displayed on your Trezor device. Cryptocurrency networks and assets are not interchangeable, so selecting the wrong network can result in a loss of funds. {"fallbackMarkdown":"(Trezor)","reference":{"matched_text":"","prefix":null,"start_idx":4366,"end_idx":4385,"safe_urls":["https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite","https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com"],"refs":[],"alt":"(Trezor)","prompt_text":null,"type":"grouped_webpages","status":"done","error":null,"style":null,"fallback_items":null,"items":[{"title":"Getting to know Trezor Suite | Trezor","url":"https://trezor.io/guides/trezor-suite/getting-to-know-trezor-suite?utm_source=chatgpt.com","attribution":"Trezor","pub_date":null,"snippet":"","attribution_segments":null,"supporting_websites":[],"refs":[{"turn_index":0,"ref_type":"search","ref_index":2}],"hue":null,"attributions":null}]},"showLoginRequiredCard":false}
