Rock Climbing

Das Gehirn ist der wichtigste Muskel beim Klettern.

When it comes to climbing your most important muscle is your brain. - Wolfgang Güllich

Aside from being a theoretical high-energy physicist I am a very passionate rock climber as well.

I started climbing in 2010 in a bouldering gym in Vienna that most people simply call Walfischgasse. After about one year of pure bouldering at the gym I decided to take up rope and harness and head outside to the crags in the vicinity of Vienna. After touching real rock and leading for the first time I became instantly addicted to climbing outside. Luckily the local climate around Vienna is very climbing friendly which means it is possible to climb outdoors basically throughout the whole year.

Thanks to this I was able to progress slowly but steady and redpoint routes up to 8b and boulders up to 7C (二段+).

In 2015 I also extended my skill set officially and became a so called "Übungsleiter" which allows me to give courses for beginning climbers.
