Hi, I’m Mauro Viganò!
I’m a postdoctoral researcher in linguistics and
aphasiology at the lab Bases Corpus Langages,
Université Côte d’Azur & CNRS, Nice, France.
I am originally from Bergamo, Italy, and trained in Philosophy of Language and Speech and Language Therapy in Milan, where I also worked as a speech therapist in neurorehabilitation. I then completed a PhD in Linguistics at the lab Structures Formelles du Langage (CNRS, Université Paris 8) in Paris, and I am now an IdEx postdoctoral researcher at the lab Bases Corpus Langages (CNRS & Université Côte d’Azur) in Nice, France.
My research integrates theoretical linguistics, with a focus on formal approaches and morphosyntax, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and clinical linguistics, particularly in aphasia and acquired language disorders. I adopt a cross-linguistic and multimodal perspective, which also includes research on sign languages and employs a variety of experimental methods.
The overarching goal of my work is to bridge linguistic theory with the study of language as a cognitive faculty, in both typical and pathological conditions, and to translate these insights into practical tools for language assessment and rehabilitation in clinical settings.
Beyond my academic activities, I enjoy hiking and travelling, with a particular interest in naturalistic exploration and direct contact with diverse cultures. I am attentive to inclusivity and respect in research environments and in social life.
