My journey started in Topeka, Kansas. I lived there until the age of four and during that time my mother taught, and my father ran his own construction company. I was able to see my family quite often during this time. I had my uncle, aunt, cousins, and grandma all living within a few short miles of me. I would also get to go to the zoo, which was only a block away from our house. Then during the summer, I would get to go swim at Topeka’s giant swimming pool at Gage Park.
After living in Topeka for four years, my father got a new job in Arizona. This meant that we were going to be moving to a new place. We packed our bags and began the trip to our new home. Once arriving there I realized that Arizona was a little different from Kansas. In Arizona there was no grass and the houses looked different in they were cookie-cutter stucco homes. However, I kind of liked it. It was always warm out, and we had a dried-up creek right across from our house. After work my dad, mother, brother, and I would sometimes go on walks in the creek bed that I always enjoyed.
Then after almost a year of living in Arizona, my dad got another new job. This time it was in my dad’s old hometown, Seneca, Kansas. He got a job as the new State Farm Agent. Once again, we packed our bags and began the trip to our new home. Seneca was a bit different from the town we lived in Arizona. The town we lived in before had 25,000 residents, while Seneca only had a little over 2,000 people. The school was different too because Seneca’s school had just burnt down. So, while the new school was being built, we had class at a building that is now our DMV. Then about a year after moving to Seneca, the new school was done. It was a very nice building. However, I still hadn’t quite settled in yet. I still hadn’t found the close bunch of friends to call mine.
Once I walked into the building, I became good friends with a kid. We hung out quite a bit and then in fourth grade he moved away. After that I found three other kids who had similar interests as me. We became a very close group, and we would we hang out all the time together. During the summer, there would be times where we would ride our bikes around together for more than three days in a row. We were very close all the way up until 8th grade. Then we got into high school. We are still good friends, but we have now taken on different interests.
I am now our Senior Class President, National Honor Society member, a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and a varsity wrestler for Nemaha Central High School. I had run for class president freshman, sophomore, and junior year, but I came up short. However, this year I finally got it. I have also been a member of FBLA for the last four years. This is my second year of wrestling. In my first year I made it to state, and I plan on doing the same thing this year. I sort of had a natural knack for the sport, and now it’s my favorite. I was also a varsity letterman in football and track.
After high school, I plan on going to Cloud County Community College to wrestle. There I will be earning my associates degree in political science. After my time at Cloud, I will then attend my father’s alma matter. I will be going to Kansas University where I will continue my education and begin my ROTC for the army. Once I am finished with college, I will start my career in the Army as a lieutenant. After I serve my country, I then plan to serve it once more as a politician. That is where I plan my journey taking me.
