Proshow was one of the first ones I tried with no luck. It won't play for some reason. I have Nero, didn't work... also tried My Slide Show and fotoalbum with no luck. I did some googling and found suggestions to try Video Editing SW. I have Ulead and Movie Maker, really love Movie Maker so I made a slideshow in that then opened and saved to Ulead to save the File in svcd format and that worked... but I also used a diff cd-r mfgr so maybe it was that. I'm backtracking now to see just where the problem is.
It has been my experiece in all the DVD players
I have played with that read .JPGs, whether
portable or component type, is that they dont
do it very well. The menus are clunky, and none
that I know of will just play a random or sequential
slideshow of all the .JPGs on a disk nonstop without
having to hit a button to restart it when it gets to
the end. The portable I have plays just what
is in one folder then stops and goes back to the
folder menu. Most wont even let you set the interval
for the time it displays each file. Pretty lame.
I dont know why they cant come with better
slideshow options. You would think they would
do that and market them that way: as a portable
photo album.
I have a program (Nova DVD Photoplay) that will
allow you to pick a bunch of .JPGs and it will convert
them to some file type that plays on most DVD
player I think called "photo DVD" or such. It writes the
files to a CD-R. It allows you to either set up an
automatic slideshow with adjustable time interval
or a manually prompted slideshow but it is one or the
other. The disk gets recognised in 3 out of 4 of my
DVD players and just plays through, but when it gets
to the end it shuts off again until you hit "play".
I would like to have something that does a random or
sequential NONSTOP slideshow but so far have come up
with nothing.
I am going to bite the bullet soon and buy a LCD
HDTV. All the HDTVs on the market currently have
VGA and/or PCI inputs allowing them to act as a
computer monitor. What i going to do is put together
a basic PC to do nothing but display slideshows on that TV.
Photo editors (my favorite is Irfanview) will typically
do a nice nonstop random or sequential slideshow
and pick files from multiple folders. At least for
the living room, this seems like the way to go until
the makers of CD players get with the program
and emphasize the use of their machines as
photo viewers.

I have created a slideshow in Windows Movie Maker with music in the background. When I publish my movie it transfers to Windows DVD maker to burn. When I burn a DVD on my external DVD drive, the slideshow plays but no music. If I select to burn my slideshow to a CD, everything works, but I have to view on the computer and I wanted to play it on a DVD for an anniversary party. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks
