MAURA NAVA is a 2x Latin Grammy nominated Mexican singer and songwriter whose voice is often described as celestial, and her life story soul-touching.
Before landing a record deal with Universal Music Latin, Maura obtained a degree in classical music and worked as a middle school choir director for a year. Unknown to her at the time, she would soon reach more than 70 million people worldwide through the viral video Opera Cat, where she is hilariously upstaged by her singing kitty, Max.
Her unique voice is not her only weapon. At only age 24 Maura was shaken by a mystical near-death experience induced by heart failure. During her emergency pacemaker surgery, which she was awake for, Maura sang an array of her favorite choral pieces internalized during her teenage years as a self-proclaimed "choir nerd".
Maura did not always see herself as an artist, but rather felt called to it as a mission. In her own words:
"I feel like a piece of me stayed up there, and I came back to my body only to sing. I didn't really choose this path as much as it chose me. I'm just here to be an instrument of love."
Not even a year into her career, Maura’s first song A La Mitad- part of the soundtrack for the Amazon Prime show Zorro- was nominated for two Latin Grammys as Song of the Year, and Best Pop Song of the Year. Maura has continued to capture hearts worldwide, sharing the stage with the prestigious British vocal ensemble VOCES8, singing for the Royal Family of Spain, opening for the iconic Mexican artist Carlos Rivera, and singing with the fantastic Italian trio Il Volo.
