The Common Service Centres or CSC is a programme initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India. These centres act as an access point for delivery of several government-run schemes across the country and hence contributing to a digital and financially inclusive society. With its PAN Indian presence, these centers are more than service delivery points in the rural parts of the country. The centers are positioned as change agents which promote rural entrepreneurship apart from building rural capacities and livelihoods. The CSC e-Governance Services India Limited is a special purpose vehicle established under the Companies Act of 1956 by the Government of India to supervise the implementation of the CSC schemes in India and it helps to provide a centralized collaborative framework for the distribution of services to citizens through these centres apart from ensuring sustainability and systemic viability of the scheme.
