Kaylen Ward, the self-proclaimed 'Naked Philanthropist' who offers nudes in exchange for donation has raised over $1 million for Australian fire relief. The campaign which began in early January went viral and received both support and backlash from internet users worldwide.
Ward's successful campaign has influenced many influencers, models, and adult performers. It has also led to numerous ventures, including a partnership with subscription content service 'OnlyFans' for a campaign to raise funds for earthquake relief in Puerto Rico.
The 20-year-old influencer from Los Angeles started the campaign out of frustration. She was concerned about Australia's wildfires not getting enough media coverage and wanted to do something about it.
Ward took to social media websites Twitter and Instagram to offer nudes to every person who donates at least $10 to various organizations that offer wildfire relief. The post quickly went viral and it only took a few days before she had raised an estimated $500,000.
But not everyone was happy with Ward's campaign. Instagram deactivated Ward's account claiming that she has violated the site's guidelines by posting sexually explicit content.
Despite the setback and backlash, including family and friends, Ward went on with her campaign. On January 6, she announced on a Tweet that she has raised over $1 million.
"Would you believe me if I told you we raised an estimated $1million", Ward announced in a Tweet. Her campaign's success also inspired other influencers, models, and adult performers to join her effort.
