Mouse Behavioral Scoring

Mouse Scoring

In order to measure the level of fear in each mouse, I utilized a durational coding method. To determine whether the mouse was anxious, the mouse had to remain within a two inch radius to the arena walls. To determine whether the mouse was not anxious, the mouse had to leave the specific area close to the walls and remain throughout the center for a minimum of three seconds before returning to the arena walls. I kept a time log for each mouse that identified the points in time where the mouse was within the center of the arena and close to the walls. The mouse that spent the most time overall within the center is believed to have experienced the least amount of anxiety.
