My name is Matthew Pickens and I am a Game Designer.
I am currently studying Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine.
I hold the title of Director of Outreach for the Video Game Development Club at UCI.
When I'm not studying or designing, you can usually find me playing single-player RPGs, playing MMOs like Lost Ark or watching films or tv with friends, or attending a local comic/anime convention.
I am an avid fan of Survival Horror and RPGs of any genre. I have been following the games industry from a young age and knew, that growing up, I would want to go from playing games, to making them.
After graduating from Highschool I tailored my education into pursuing storytelling and programming so that I could bring my creative ideas to life. At UCI, I have been honing my Design Skills and am always eager to learn as much as I can for as long as I can.
I was born and raised in Southern California but over the years have travelled to almost all 50 states, 3/7 continents, and several countries.
My favorite aspect of gaming is environmental storytelling through level design. Some of my early favorite games that do this are Resident Evil 2 (1998), The Sly Cooper Trilogy, and Mass Effect 1.
