Matthew Creighton is the eldest of seven children, born in rural Alabama. His two brothers died as infants. Matthew decided as a little boy that he wanted to play pro football (like his cousin) to make life better for his parents. Unfortunately, when he was 16, his mother died from diabetes; and a few years later, on his 19th birthday, he and his sisters buried their father.

Only 19, Matthew became the legal guardian of his four younger sisters. He needed a better job to take care of them; so, he got hired as an Alabama State Trooper and he was successful. Actually, he was very successful and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, before he got sidetracked and lost his 18-year career. Matthew's bad choices and decisions had him in and out of prison three times. However, he chose to use his experience to help others make better choices and decisions, 

In July of 2012, Matthew knew that it was time to get his Don't Get Sidetracked message out there. He spoke to a group of young people and quickly realized that it is a much needed and timely message for both young and old alike. Matthew's book, Don't Get Sidetracked, inspires people to stay on track in their quest to reach their highest potential.
