Laughing, making people laugh, eating good food, and enjoying my friends and family's company are some of the most important things I do when I am not in the lab.
I grew up in rural Kansas and suburban Texas before starting my undergraduate studies at Rice University. At Rice I was part of Duncan college where I met some of my best friends who continue to inspire me to this day.
While at Rice I had the privilege to serve on the yearbook staff, as a researcher in Dr. Kathleen Matthews' lab, and as a small-group leader in Chi Alpha. Each of these experiences uniquely contributed to my formation and growth, and through them I have made lifelong friends.
As all things, in 2017 my time at Rice came to an end and I packed my bags and moved to St. Louis. While living in St. Louis I worked with the Young Scientist Program's Summer Focus program, tried out local restaurants and cafes, made great friends through my parish, and spent some much needed time riding my bike around this beautiful city.
In 2022, I moved to Philadelphia to continue my thesis work. Now in Philly, I have gotten to know the UPenn grad students in my department, I have explored my new neighborhood (West Philly) and the rest of the city on foot, bike, bus, trolley, and subway. Philly is also an exciting place to go out dancing, check out local bookstores, or just sit in a park peoplewatching.
I am currently writing my doctoral dissertation and will defend on 2 June 2023. After my defense, I am seeking a position in Biotech or Pharma where I hope to work as a Scientist in protein sciences or large molecule analytics, where I can bring my biochemical and biophysical expertise to the challenge of drug discovery and development.
