Social Media Analysis for West Coast Public Libraries

Research Assistant, University of South Carolina, February 2018

In collaboration with Dr. Amir Karami I explored the content of more than 160,000 tweets posted by 71 public libraries in the western United States of America. We applied computational methods to collect the tweets and discovered meaningful themes. Our research identifies how public libraries represent their services and provides a starting point for different organizations to evaluate the themes of their public tweets. We have submitted our research for presentation at the 2018 Association for Information Science and Technology annual meeting.

Social Media Analysis for Organizations: US Northeastern Public and State Libraries Case Study

Research Assistant, University of South Carolina, December 2017

In collaboration with Dr. Amir Karami I worked on an interdisciplinary research project at the intersection of social media analysis and data science. Using R, we collected and analyzed millions of tweets extracted from several hundred US public libraries to understand how public libraries use social media to describe their services and interact with patrons. We presented our findings at the 2018 Southern Association for Information Systems Conference.
