My main research interests lie in the intersection of philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and metaphysics. I take a naturalistic approach to questions in philosophy of mind, which sees philosophy as continuous with the sciences. I am also interested in questions about philosophical methodology.
Recently, I have been working on the nature of self-control, particularly on the nature of the trait or traits, if any, that enable humans to intelligently manage their impulses and desires. My book, Rethinking Self-Control, was published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis in January 2025. I recently wrote two articles for general audiences, one about New Year's resolutions and the other about Ozempic, which apply and explain some of the key components of my reconceptualization of trait self-control.
