Matt Davidson, PhD

Research Fields:

I am a cognitive neuroscientist, with a broad interest in how moment-to-moment changes in brain activity influence our stream of consciousness.

To tackle this problem, I use a range of techniques.

I primarily test people's behaviour and perception while also measuring electrical activity on the scalp.  This is done using electroencephalography (EEG), to record brain activity with sub-millisecond precision, and over a wide range of frequencies.

Currently, I'm a lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney. I was previously a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Sydney, where I began investigating perception during natural movement (walking) in immersive virtual reality (VR).

You can read plain language summaries about my past research from The Brain Dialogue, Monash University and The Conversation, or head over to my publications page.
