Welcome! My name is Matthew Barros, and I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Linguistics at Yale. I received my PhD in 2014 from Rutgers University (a link to my thesis is available under the "research" tab). My primary areas of interest are the interfaces between syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. My research focusses primarily on ellipsis constructions, where words and phrases, otherwise required for grammaticality, go missing from the speech signal (and are nonetheless understood!). A sample of my output is available under the "research" tab. To learn more about my work, please see my CV.
