About Miss Smith

My name is Samantha Smith and this is my 4th year teaching. I am the mathematics teacher for 7th and 9th grade. Since I was a child, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Although, I always imagined myself to be at the elementary school level.

I graduated from Cal State Northridge with my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) in 2017. That fall, I began teaching at MSA-5 in 7th Grade Math and Science. I fell in love with teaching math and wanted to continue with it.

For the two years that followed, I taught 7th Grade Math and Integrated Math I to freshmen. I pursued a Master's in Secondary Mathematics Education at CSUN in which I graduated from in May 2020. I hope to one day change math curriculum to reflect the 21st century needs and move instruction to inquiry-based learning.
