3D Modelling with GeoGebra

For Students : Age 13-18

Task.1--

Ask Students to arrange one 3D object of the shape (Cude, Cuboid, cylinder, Sphere or prism) .

Now ask them to measure the dimensions of the object. e.g. for a box (cuboid) and record the data.

Length= x cm, width= y cm and height= z cm. write the values of x, y and z

Now Ask (to Students) to imagine one corner of the object is at (0,0,0)

Take one Point A= (x,0,0) for length, B(0,y,0) and for height C(0,0,z)

Let's create a base of the cuboid first: OADB, where D(x,y,0)

Draw a rough drawing of the shape chosen using coordinates. or go directly to https://www.geogebra.org/3d and Install GeoGebra 3D App from (Play store) Android or Apple store

Use the insert bar to enter all the points A, B, C and D.

Use the 3D tools ( check the icon with triangle circle) to create base of the shape chosen ( Square, rectangle or circle).

Now Use the appropriate tool ( Cube, Cuboid or Cylinder etc ) to create your shape of proper dimensions. For example to create cone or cylinder Student needs to click on that shape icon and click on the 3D shape to mark one lower point, upper point and then radius of the circle.

Once the shape has been created you may adjust the shape by moving the points.

Once you are comfortable with creating the shape on https://www.geogebra.org/3d

You can try the same things on Mobile App ( GeoGebra 3D app)

Create the shape here on mobile, Tap on AR mode on mobile app to see through the Camera and place your real Object in front of Camera. You may need to tap on the screen or move your device to recognize the surface. You will see your created object overlapping on your real object.

Have Fun. Try with different shapes and objects.
