The Maths ECR Symposium is open to Early Career Researcher from across the School, including:
Late-stage PhD students (3rd year and above)
Postdoctoral researchers
Research fellows
Academic staff on the ADP
The symposium will be an informal opportunity to meet other researchers across the School, hear about their work and discuss opportunities for the next stages of your research career.
ECRs are invited to give a short research presentation and/or present a poster aimed at a broad mathematical audience.
Talks and posters should introduce your research in a way that is accessible to those outside your immediate area, similar to the type of presentation you might give as part of an academic job interview.
It is a great opportunity to practise communicating your research to a wider audience and hear about the work of other ECRs across the School.
We will also have a panel discussion of grant and fellowships, aimed at helping ECRs learn more about different funding opportunities.
Colleagues within the department who have successfully secured a wide rage of grants and fellowships will share their experiences, advice and lessons learned from the application process.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and hear different perspectives on applying for research funding at various career stages.
Presentations from ECRs across the School
Experiences and advice from colleagues who have successfully applied for funding
Tea, coffee and snacks will be available during the symposium, with food provided after the symposium finishes
