Maths Club IISER Bhopal
One of the most fruitful and enjoyable ways of exploring mathematics is discussion. The Maths Club provides a platform for such engagement. We invite you to deliver a talk, to suggest topics for a talk or activity, join an interaction session or just engage with our community; this is an open club and 'community' refers to the entire IISER-B community.
Activities and Events
Ideas for future talks
Talk on the works of Cauchy
Challenge. Given a real-valued function and an arbitrary epsilon less than 1 find a delta for each point x in the domain. Thus, delta is a well-defined function on R. Your score will be the reciprocal of the inverse of the integral of delta.
Talk on the works of Hilbert.
Activity - A game of 20 questions involving mathematicians and people from the IISER Bhopal community.
A talk on Dedekind cuts - What are real numbers?
A talk on Peano's axioms
The Well-Ordering Principle, the principle of Mathematical Induction and why all horses are black.
You can mail us if you want to give a talk about any of the above.
Open Hour
The idea of an open hour is just for people to come together and do math, without any restrictions (of subject, expertise, etc.). This would give people a platform to ask doubts, explore ideas and discuss with others. Through this, we hope to cultivate a culture of discussion of mathematics that seems to have faded during the lockdown and hope to build connections through the same across batches and interests.
