Class Expectations and Guidelines

Algebra I – Class Guide – Ms. Reichert

SUPPLIES

Please bring the following items to class each day: Pencils, Ruler, Calculator, and a 3-ring Binder w/paper.

MATHEMATICAL PRACTICES

Students will take notes on every lesson and practice each lesson with assigned work. Assigned work should be completed on time so that students can actively participate in class discussions.

ASSIGNMENTS

1. Assignments are graded on the amount of effort shown and will be checked daily for completeness and neatness. There will be quizzes and tests over specific details in notes and assignments.

2. Students are responsible for getting assignments before or after an absence from my website: http://sites.google.com/view/mathreichert

3. If time is given in class to begin work, students should begin their algebra assignments and take the opportunity to ask as many questions as possible.

MAKE-UP

See me personally to reschedule missed tests/quizzes due to excused absences during a time that is convenient for both of us. Please do not wait until the last minute.

EXTRA HELP

1. If students don’t understand the material, they should arrange to see me for extra help or seek help during AST time. If you have an AST assignment with me, then you must come see me. If you don’t show up, you will receive an administrative detention for skipping AST.

2. I am available after school for extra help on Mondays. Please speak to me during class if you intend to stay. The math department also offers after school help on Tuesdays with Mr. Treworgy in room 108.

GRADING POLICY

1. Your grade is composed using a point system. Total points will vary per quarter, but will be made up of approximately 75% summative assessments and 25% formative assessments.

2. Students should score at least 70% on summative assessments to demonstrate proficiency on a learning goal. If you score below this level, you may retake the assessment once to earn up to a 70% within 2 weeks of the assessment grade being entered into IC.

3. Your Habits of Work grade is based on Mathematical Practices, Participation, Preparation, Effort and Behavior.
