        • Worked as a Resource Person in the awareness campaigns on Personal Health & Hygiene, Digital Payment Systems, Cyber Security Awareness, Orientation on National Skill Development Corporation initiatives at Government Degree College, S. Kota

        • Acted as a Resource Person for creating awareness on online teaching, digital content making, utilization of online resources and tools etc. for the staff members during the lockdown period and while conducting online classes

        • Extended essential cooperation voluntarily to the Office Administration from 2013 to 2021 at GDC, S.Kota when the office was lacking non-teaching staff. Prepared Regular Salary Bills and extended full support to all faculty members for preparation of Income Tax Returns and e-filing of IT Returns.

        • Acted as Convener/Member in various Committees of the institution

        • Coordinated with the Google tech-team ahead of every other institution in the district and successfully procured G-Suite Account for the institution which helped greatly during the online teaching period

        • Acted as the institutional Admin for the College Website of GDC, S.Kota and kept the website dynamic and updated

        • Worked as ISO Coordinator, prepared and submitted the Operational Manual Document to ISO Officials and acted as a key representative of the institution for getting THREE ISO Certificates:

ABOUT THE TOWN:

Cheepurupalli is a town located in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh and it is a Revenue Divisional Head-quarter. It is known for its agricultural activities, local markets, and proximity to several temples and cultural sites. The town is moderately developed with essential amenities surrounded by banks, schools, colleges, hospitals, and industries. It also has a few local theaters and eateries, making it a hub for the neighboring rural areas​.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION:

The Government Degree College, Cheepurupalli, was established in 2008 in a temporary building in the premises of  Government Junior College, Cheepurupalli. It is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Initially it  offered undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). The college aims to provide affordable higher education to the poor and economically backward students in the region. With a focus on holistic development, the college promotes skill development and career guidance for its students​. It was shifted into a spacious new building under New Model college Component in RUSA-1.0 in the academic year 2021-22. By the virtue of ample accommodation and sufficient infrastructure,  the institution started offering self-finance courses B.Sc. (MPCS), B.Sc(MCCS), B.Com(Computer Applications) and M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) along with conventional courses which geared up the admission statistics to escalate significantly. As a part of Curriculum under New Education Policy, the college is presently offering wide variety of UG and PG courses for over 800 students.

Government Degree College, Vizianagaram – Growth and Development

Government Degree College, Vizianagaram, was established in February 2019. Initially, the college functioned from the premises of the Government Junior College, with Dr. Penneti Swapna Haindavi serving as the In-charge Principal. Through her dedicated efforts, the college was subsequently shifted to the campus of Maharaja Government Sanskrit College.

Later, during the tenure of Dr. P. Anil Kumar, Special Officer from the Andhra Pradesh Collegiate Education Department (APCCE), the institution was sanctioned two teaching posts and two non-teaching posts. Subsequently, proposals were submitted to the Government seeking sanction of the remaining essential regular posts. In February 2023, when Dr. B. Shubha was serving as the FAC Principal, the college received approval for one Principal post and 23 regular teaching posts, along with six non-teaching posts on an outsourcing basis. The college received its DDO code in June 2023. The first batch of regular faculty members joined in August 2023, followed by additional faculty members in December 2023.

In October 2024, Dr. K. Rekha Kandula became the first regular Principal of the college. Under her leadership, the number of academic programmes offered by the institution increased from seven to ten. Although efforts to secure a separate building for the college had been initiated earlier, Dr. K. Rekha Kandula pursued the matter with renewed determination, actively coordinating with higher authorities and public representatives. As a result of these sustained efforts, the then District Collector, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, allotted the old DWMA building near MIMS Hospital to the college. This marked an important milestone in the institution's development, and the college has continued to grow steadily since then.

The college has also earned recognition for its achievements in academics and student development. In 2023, Government Degree College, Vizianagaram, received the “Best Intern Award” under the auspices of the Higher Education Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Another notable achievement was that Sobhana Sivakumar, a student of the 2023 batch, received an appointment order as a Primary Teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. This achievement brought great pride and recognition to the college.

The college has also been making commendable progress in the field of sports. Its students have secured first prizes in events such as running and high jump at university- and state-level competitions, while some students have represented the institution at national-level competitions.

The college has maintained a consistent record of placements since the first outgoing batch in 2022. In the academic year 2025–26, the institution achieved encouraging results in campus placements, with five students from the Computer Science stream and five students from the Chemistry stream being selected through campus recruitment drives.

Overall, Government Degree College, Vizianagaram, has progressed steadily since its establishment in 2019. From functioning initially in a temporary building to securing its own premises, expanding its academic programmes, strengthening its faculty, and achieving recognition in academics, sports, internships, and placements, the college has made significant strides in a relatively short period. With continued support from the Government, higher authorities, faculty, students, and the local community, the institution remains committed to providing quality higher education and creating better academic and career opportunities for its students.
