Teaching

Teaching statement

As a teaching assistant at Ghent University, I have been involved in several banking and finance courses, including teaching exercise sessions and guiding group assignments.  In my lectures, I mix exercises with the underlying theory, which allows to highlight alternative angles compared to the separate theory classes in order to focus on the fundamental building blocks. I believe in a very approachable style of teaching with active interactions. To achieve this, I require students to prepare exercise sessions upfront, which allows me to proactively adjust the content of my lecture, tailoring them to the students' needs. For the most advanced courses, group assignments, and master theses, I link the content to the latest research to show students the most recent literature and techniques, and to transfer my passion for academic research.
