The discipline theories and techniques taught in mathematics courses are especially important in today’s society. The vision of our department is to equip all of our students with the conceptual understanding, computational skills, and persistent disposition required to use quantitative reasoning and analysis effectively in their personal and professional lives.

The mission of our department is to provide an environment, where students coming from economically and socially backward and minority families, situated in the rural areas, can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical application. Our goal is to achieve excellence in teaching and learning in a peaceful and friendly environment,  catering to the social and moral needs and obligations of young learners in their pursuit of becoming truly knowledgeable and responsible human beings.

The Department of Mathematics is one of the most important departments of Chandidas Mahavidyalaya affiliated to The University of Burdwan. The B.Sc (Honours) degree course in Mathematics was first started from the academic year 2004 in our department. Currently, our department is offering B.Sc Honours (Mathematics), B.Sc General degree courses as the under-graduate programmes and these under-graduate courses are of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from academic session 2017-18. At Present, the department has 4 teaching faculties. Feedbacks are taken from students on the teaching-learning process and several ways are identified through discussion so that it can be made better after implementation.
