Mathletes,
Welcome to MA486 - Mathematical Computation! I hope everyone had a great summer and is looking forward to getting back to work this next semester. We are excited to get to work with you this semester in developing your programming and computational problem solving skills.
Prior to your 1st class:
a. Verify all textbooks are on-hand: Third Edition of Python Programming by Zelle, and the Python Data Science Handbook by VanderPlas.
b. Download Anaconda (includes Python, Jupyter, Spyder; instructions are given within Lesson 1 videos).
c. Go to CoCalc and sign-up for an account. You will need to pay $14 for a student account. You can sign up using any email (usma.edu or another one of your emails).
d. Bookmark and familiarize with this course website. Read and watch material associated with Lesson 1, and review important course documents (calendar, syllabus, CD memo) within its Amin Files.
This course is great: both interesting and useful. Mathematical computing is a powerful tool contributing to a variety of problems and professions. It will be good!!
