1. Getting There
The animals are all going to the Annual Animal Picnic and they are racing against the cloudy weather. The animals wonder who will arrive first, second, third, and fourth, and they are hoping the that clouds will arrive in last place! Check their distances from the picnic and their speeds and see if you agree.
Distance from the Picnic
Green Frog: 5 km
Black Killer Whale: 6.5 km
Red Northern Cardinal: 48 km
Grey Wolf: 63.75 km
White Cumulus Clouds: 96 km
2. Spending Money
Whale doesn't have any money and wolf only spends $1.11 per hour during the 8 hour event. Cardinal and frog are the big spenders.
The animals are wondering how much money they will spend in total at the picnic.
3. Building Shelter
Whale and wolf need to build tents to protect the picnickers from the rain. Whale can build 2 tents every 5 minutes and wolf can build 3 tents every 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the wind can tear down 4 tents every 6 minutes.
4. Eating Treats
Based on the unit rates of candy consumption, the animals are worried that they will run out of candy before the end of the 8 hour picnic. They wonder how much candy each tent will have at the end of the picnic.
