I am a math teacher with 13 years of experience in the classroom with middle school and high school students. I am Nationally Board Certified in Early Adolescent Mathematics. I am a 2023 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching awardee. Building Thinking Classrooms: Do teachers at your school need support immplementing Thinking Classrooms? I have implemented all of the toolkits in my own classroom and presented at national conferences as well as regionally about my strategies for implementation.
Desmos: Do teachers at your school want to use Desmos more effectively (to drive conversation)? I am Desmos Fellow and have presented on Desmos at national, state, and regional conferences. I am skilled at using the activity builder to foster conversaiton (5 Practices) and at designing and building my own activities.
Productive Math Struggle: Do your teachers need help supporting student struggle? I have used this book as an anchor text for teachers just begining the process of allowing students to do the thinking (and struggling) in the classroom and had huge success.
Equity and Access: What is your school doing to ensure that all students have access to rigorous math and the opportunity to thrive? In my own work I have used the research of Zaretta Hammond, Gholdy Muhammad, and Rochelle Guittierez to create inviting math classrooms for all students and ensured that underepresented groups like Black students and girls have access to 8th grade Algebra.
