Some friends in my childhood asked what songs I listened to, or what my favorite band was. Perhaps, that was because I did not pay any attention to artists like other teenagers. It is not that I am not into the music; I actually very like music; it is just not the same music that was popular 20 years ago. Here are my answers to their questions.
My favorite music band is Square Soft, which is now, Square Enix.
The music I like is from the video games produced by Square Soft (Square Enix). Especially, the music from Final Fantasy series, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Romancing Saga 3, Seiken Densetsu Legend of Mana is always in my mind.
I did not know the names of the composers at that time but now that the internet is widely used, I know their names. They are Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimamura, Kenji Ito, and Hiroki Kikuta.
Many musicians have made piano cover or orchestra versions of the music from video games/ animations/movies. To name but a few, they are Pontus Hultgren, Malcolm Robinson , RuRu's piano, Patrik Pietschmann, Kara Comparetto, etc.
The iconic song from Square Enix which consider by many the video game national anthem are Final Fantasy Main Theme. It is used in most if not all Final Fantasy series. There are many versions too, one of them is also used in the Olympic 2021 (Tokyo, Japan) too.
Here is the list of some of my favorite songs, listed from the opening - middle - ending of the games, as I remembered.
To Zarnakand - the opening of Final Fantasy 10 - composed by Nobuo Uematsu
Some Day the Dream Will End ( Fleeting Dreams) - the before ending and shocking moment of Final Fantasy 10 - composed by Nobuo Uematsu
To Far Away Times - the ending song from Chrono Trigger - composed by Yasunori Mitsuda
Maybe, Some Day the Dream Will End does not have a good orchestra/cover version because the original and remastered versions are already excellent and no one can cover it. On the other hand, To Far Away Times was originally released more than 20 years ago, and now that the technology has caught up with the music, there are many cover versions. Here is the link to some cover versions.
