Welcome to the in-house student seminar series organized by the Department of Mathematics, IIT Palakkad. As William Paul Thurston rightly said "Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding", the aim of this seminar series is to foster understanding, by presenting mathematical ideas from the diverse pool of Mathematics.
These talks would not only improve the presentation and communication skills of the students, but also their ability to think on their feet to answer questions on spot. And the audience, they get a free supply of mathematical content!
In Formula 1, a speed pit is the pit lane where a car stops to perform maintenance or change tires during a race. MATH-PITS is also an opportunitiy to stop, breathe and exchange ideas during a student's race to finish their dissertation.Â
