The aim of Historical Development of Mathematics was to research the most famous mathematicians by the periods in which they lived. In November, we created 5 mixed country teams (Turkey, Romanya, Serbia, Jordan, Italy and Greece) to study the Historical Development of Mathematics. Mathematics was divided into 5 periods : Egypt and Mesopotamia, Indian-Islam-Renaisance, Ancient Greece, 17th and 18th Century, Modern Age. Each team was given a research task about famous mathematicians from the appropriate period. (general characteristics of the period, research of famous mathematicians of that period).
As a result of the research, we have prepared an interactive history strip with Genially tool. It was a collaborative work, each student was invited to work and designed their own pages in Genially tool. (the presentation can be seen below.)
Pictures of student work, while working on creating the presentation, can be seen below. The pictures represent the students works of the following teachers from the appropriate period:
Egypt and Mesopotamia (Enes Yavuz , Amani Abu Romman ,Florinela Boboc ,Selen Narin Akgün)
Indian-Islam-Renaisance (Seçil Bilgin,Eda Acar, Elena Amalia Comanescu, Manuela Doina Stroie)
Ancient Greece (Hatice Uysal Çatmakaş, Burcu Sönmez, Selen Aras,Cecilia Motta)
17th and 18th Century ( Burcu Sönmez, Seçil Bilgin, Marina Nikolic)
Modern Age (Sema Karakelleoğlu, Tayyibe Tezcan, Savaş Uygun, Thalia Kopadi)
After a good study of the entire history strip, we prepared a Kahoot about the historical development of mathematics to evaluate what we have learned. For this, each team prepared 3 questions. We played Kahoot online on the webinar. Student Bianca from Romania was the winner of Kahoot.
