NORTHWEST FLORIDA
STATE COLLEGE
For more than 30 years, our Annual Math Competition has been a proud, exciting, and lasting tradition for high school students across Northwest Florida. This daylong event brings together curious minds, problem-solvers, and math enthusiasts for a celebration of learning, teamwork, and friendly competition.
High schools from across the region compete in three divisions based on size—Class X for smaller schools, Class Y for mid-size schools, and Class Z for larger schools—ensuring an inclusive and exciting experience for all participants. The NWFSC Annual Math Competition prioritizes a fair, engaging, and inclusive experience for every student.
The Math Bowl Day begins with a written examination from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by fast-paced ciphering matches from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event challenges students through both individual and team-based competitions. During the ciphering matches, teams race against the clock to solve a wide range of problems, including algebra, trigonometry, analytic geometry, plane geometry, calculus, and more. Math Problems are displayed on a large screen, inviting the audience to test their own skills alongside the competitors.
An awards ceremony immediately follows the afternoon competition, honoring team and individual achievements, including trophies for winners and recognition for the highest-scoring students in each class and school. The public is warmly invited to attend the ciphering matches and the awards ceremony.
Our mission is to provide students with a rewarding opportunity to develop their mathematical competency and showcase their critical thinking skills. Our institution celebrates the talent, dedication, and passion of students year after year.
We are proud to continue hosting this longstanding event, offering students a meaningful opportunity to build their mathematical skills and demonstrate their critical thinking in a fun, supportive, inclusive, and inspiring environment.
