Privacy Policy for MateSplit

Welcome to MateSplit. Your privacy is our top priority. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, process, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
A. Personal Information When you create an account, we collect information such as:
Name, Email Address, and Phone Number.
Profile Picture (...stored as a secure URL in our database ).
B. SMS Data (Financial Tracking) MateSplit includes an automatic expense tracking feature. With your explicit permission, the App reads incoming SMS messages from financial institutions (Banks).
Purpose: To detect transaction amounts, merchant names, and currencies to automate group expense splitting.
Privacy: We only process financial transaction keywords. Your personal messages are ignored and are never uploaded to our servers for any purpose other than splitting expenses within your private groups.
C. Location Data The App requests access to your device's location.
Purpose: To help users provide an accurate address when posting property listings in the "Room Rent" marketplace.
Usage: Location is only accessed while the App is in use and only when the user triggers the "Detect Location" button. We do not track your background location.
D. Property Listing Images When you post a property for rent or sale, we collect the images you provide. These images are stored in our secure database to display them to other users of the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data to:
Facilitate group expense management and splitting.
Provide real-time bank SMS alerts and categorizations.
Enable a local marketplace for room and property rentals.
Manage subscriptions and credit systems.
Communicate app updates and security alerts.
3. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
We use the following trusted third-party services:
Google Firebase: For secure authentication and Firestore database storage.
Google AdMob: To display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers.
Exchange Rate API: To provide real-time currency conversion.
Note: We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to any third-party marketing companies.
4. Data Retention and Account Deletion (Google Play Compliance)
In strict compliance with Google Play’s User Data Policy:
Account Deletion: Users have the right to delete their accounts at any time. You can find the "Delete Account" button in the Profile Settings section of the App.
Data Removal: Upon clicking "Delete Account," the following actions occur immediately:
Your Authentication Record (Email/UID) is permanently deleted from Google Firebase.
Your Personal Profile Data (Name, Phone, Profile Picture) is wiped from our Firestore Database.
All your created Groups and Property Listings are permanently removed.
Irreversibility: Once the account is deleted, the data is purged from Google Cloud servers and cannot be recovered.
5. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including SSL encryption and Google's secure infrastructure, to protect your data from unauthorized access.
6. Children’s Privacy
Our App is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date."
