Welcome to Mater Dei’s Little Saints Child Care Center

We are a faith based center owned and operated under Mater Dei Catholic Church and the Dioceses of Sioux City and a pathway to the Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools. The Centers follows the Department of Health and Human Services codes and regulations for licensing of childcare centers.

Our center welcomes children of all religions. We offer full time care for children, ages 2 and up, and give them opportunity to explore and develop new skills. A variety of programs are offered: Preschool, all day Childcare, Before/After School and a fun and exciting Summer Program. Weekly themes introduce the children to literature, language arts, music, Religion, art, and other activities. Preschool time focuses on socialization and fundamental developmental skills that will serve the children well while they enter Pre-K and kindergarten and throughout their educational years.

Little Saints Child Care Center is a non-profit organization. We provide care Monday through Friday. We are open from 6:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Preschool time is from 8:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Little Saints we will ensure that each child has the right to develop to their fullest potential: socially, emotionally, spiritually, and educationally. We will recognize the uniqueness of each child by helping them to learn to live and work cooperatively and by promoting their self esteem. We will teach, protect, and respect the individual child acknowledging that they are indeed a precious gift from God.

We will provide a safe and healthy setting with a positive atmosphere of active learning where children learn through their play. We will recognize the child’s family as the primary foundation in the child’s life and respect that children are best understood in the context of their family, culture, and community.

Our Brand New Playground

In summer of 2022 we got a brand new play ground featuring multiple slides, games, a fire truck and turf play surface that that has been an absolute hit with the kids.

Childcare

Childcare hours are available from 6:45am to 5:45pm. The cost includes morning and afternoon snacks and lunch. Lunch is served at 11:30am and rest time is offered from 12:30pm-2:30 pm. All children are expected to rest, with the exception of the school age children if they are out of school. Afternoons are less structured, and the children are able to enjoy more child-selected activities.

Rates vary based on the number of days your child attends.

Our Programs

Pre-School

We have two preschool classrooms. Munchkins are our 2/3 year olds this classroom has a 1/6 ratio with a maximum of 12 children in this classroom. Our main focus is on learning to get along with others and potty training . Lollipop kids are our 3/4 year olds this room has a 1/8 ratio with a maximum of 16 children. These children MUST be potty trained and are working on getting ready to go to the “Big” school.

Preschool hours are from 8:45am to 11:00am. Preschool provides a structured program based on Creative Curriculum and includes religious based lessons.

School Age

We offer care before and after for one flat daily/weekly rate. Rates vary depending on the number of days your child attends.

We offer child care services for those children currently enrolled when school is not in session. This includes full no school days and early dismissals.

Childcare is available for those younger school age children during our summer session.

In 2024 Mater Dei's Little Saints recieved a Level 1 IQ4K Rating. This rating is given to centers that meet requirements for overall quality of care in their childcare facility. We work extremely hard to give the children the best experience possible. Read more about our rating at the Iowa

Board of Directors

Little Saints Child Care Center is governed by a Board of Directors. These are dedicated and concerned volunteers, typically consisting of family members of the children cared for in our center and long time members of the Mater Dei Family. The Board of Directors meets monthly. If you would like to know more about the board of directors or are interested in joining, please speak with the Center's Director.
