This Privacy Policy explains how MATERA ("MATERA", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the MATERA mobile application and related services (the "Service"). MATERA is an AI-powered interior-design tool: you upload a photo of a room, mark the surface you want to change, choose or describe a material, and we generate a new render of that room.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Beta release and pricing
MATERA is currently offered as a beta (pre-release) version of the Service. Features may change, be added, or removed at any time, and the Service may contain errors or be interrupted while we continue to develop it. Any pricing, subscriptions, or fees are not final: we may introduce or adjust them at any time, without advance notice. We will always show the current price before you make a purchase.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and, where you provide it, your display name and profile picture. You can sign up with an email and password, or through Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. When you use those providers, we receive the account identifier, email, and name they release to us. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your real one.
Content you provide
To generate renders, we process and store the content you create, including:
• Photos you upload of rooms and spaces (your "source images");
• Selection masks marking the areas you want to change;
• Text prompts describing the materials or changes you want;
• Generated renders produced by our AI models, including the lineage of renders you iterate on;
• Projects and assets you create, including names, categories, tags, and any images you add to your personal asset library;
• Favorites and other preferences within the app.
Technical information
We and our infrastructure providers automatically collect limited technical data needed to operate and secure the Service, such as your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and request logs. Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device to keep you signed in.
MATERA does not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, health data, or payment card details, and does not use third-party advertising trackers.
2. How we use your information
• To provide the core Service: authenticating you, storing your projects, and generating renders from your photos, masks, and prompts;
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
• To respond to your requests and provide support;
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues;
• To comply with legal obligations.
3. AI processing and third-party sub-processors
Generating a render requires sending your source image, selection mask, and prompt to AI models for processing.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploaded photos or generated renders to train our own models. Google's processing of data submitted to its paid Cloud and Gemini API services is governed by Google's applicable terms.
4. How we share information
We share information only as described in this Policy, namely:
• with the service providers listed above, to operate the Service;
• to comply with law, legal process, or enforceable governmental requests;
• to protect the rights, safety, and property of MATERA, our users, or the public;
• in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Your projects, images, and renders are private to your account and are not shared with other users.
5. Data retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete a project, its renders are deleted with it. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data and content within a commercially reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups and provider logs may persist for a limited additional period.
6. Your rights and choices
• You can view and update your profile within the app.
• You can delete individual projects, renders, and assets you created.
• You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
• Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), Firebase authentication, and access rules that scope your data to your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
We and our providers may process and store information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the app.
