Sensei Mateo is an experienced Elementary and Middle School physical educator specializing in Martial Arts. Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, he has 21 years of martial arts experience. He holds a 5th degree black belt in Universal Warrior Arts Karate, earned under his first teacher and mentor, Grand Master Austin Wright Sr. Sensei Mateo is proficient in various martial arts styles, including Isshin-Ryu Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Jujitsu, and modern tactical self-defense.
With over 11 years of teaching experience in self-defense for individuals of all ages, Sensei Mateo is also a National Point Contact Champion and an international silver medalist at the Freedom Games in Trelawny, Jamaica, for both Continuous Kickboxing and Point Contact Traditional Karate. He is passionate about competing and teaching martial arts to youth, and is dedicated to serving as a positive influence by instilling the core values associated with martial arts.
