Many grassroots football clubs rely on volunteers to sustain themselves year on year, many struggling to find reliable and qualified coaches to pick it up. MatchSoccer have established an approach where we partner with the local clubs to run the development squads (age 3-6) transitioning them into the club at U7's to begin there competitive football journey.
Early Years
Generally, between the ages of 3 and 4 (pre-school years), these children will be introduced to football through fun interactive games, parents would be regularly encouraged to join in, and the child will learn that football is something they can do anywhere, any time with anyone.
Development - Phase 1
Upon starting reception your child will be offered the chance to move up into the first development phase, this would see the coaches work through a syllabus of fun and interactive development games, building up capability around ball control, dribbling, shooting, passing and a light introduction to match play.
Towards the end of this phase we begin to introduce them to boundaries and basic rules.
Development - Phase 2
As your child begins Year 1 we would offer them the chance to again move up into the second and final development phase, here we would introduce friendly matches to continue developing their skills alongisde traditional fun based sessions that introduce the concept of teamwork, we also develop respect, confidence and communication skills to ensure that upon leaving us to move into mini-soccer your child is confident to make the transition to new coaches and team mates.
MatchSoccer are unique in the development space in that we offer all kids continous training for 44 weeks of the year, each child who joins our development squad receive a joiners pack that contains a new MatchSoccer kit, a MatchSoccer bag and a MatchSoccer bottle. Additionally they receive a 10% discount off all party bookings, camps and 121 coaching sessions.
In addition to looking after our members we also support the on-boarding of future coaches into the clubs we partner with. This includes orientation sessions for new coaches, mentoring sessions and transitional training sessions throughout the last 3 months of MatchSoccer membership.

Danbury & Bicknacre, Essex
Our relationship with D&B has seen us transition 18 kids within the first year into the club set-up and a pipleline of around a similar amount all ready training through the MatchSoccer year groups. This relationship will enable sustainability for a club that is in the shadows of much larger local clubs who are monopolising the youth football player pool.
"Without MatchSoccer it was highly likely we didn't have a future, with a club house coming and heavy investment in our playing pitches this partnership ensures we have a really exciting future" Jim O'Brien - D&B Club Secretary.
