MPM RED Tournament - Championship PLAYOFF Match Results: Wolter/Barloon win 6 up and 5 vs Vines/Shy
PLAYOFF MATCH! Different day, different outcome at Kingswood!
The match started out pretty straightforward. Robyn won hole #1, Nancy won hole #2. From there, Wolters/Barloon won 6 more holes on the front nine. Trying to make a comeback, Vines/Shy won holes #9 and #10. But it wasn't enough to beat the momentum of Wolters/Barloon, who won two more holes on the back to end the match 6 up with 5 to go.

MPM RED Tournament - Championship Match Results: Wolter/Barloon win 4 up and 2 vs Vines/Shy
Talk about a close match!!
The day started off with everyone parring number one at Kingswood, the number one handicap hole. And kept on from there. Many holes were tied with pars, and everyone played a great day of golf. Wanda could be the poster child senior for OP 360! What a difference from the first time we played Nancy and Lisa where they won!! 🥇
Now the final Match! Tuesday, October 21, 9:00 am shotgun at Kingswood! I’m not sure any of us could play any better….but I know we will all try! 🏌️♀️
***
Editor's Note: Wolters/Barloon worked their way up through the Elimination Bracket after a previous defeat by Vines/Shy earlier in the tournament. Since both teams have one loss, they will meet again in a Championship Playoff Match next week.

MPM RED Tournament Semi-Finals: Wolters/Barloon win 1 up after 18 vs. Maslyk/Watson
Can you say close? That's what the Kingswood match between Maslyk/Watson and Wolters/Barloon was. Ann won #3, Robyn #4, Wanda #5, and Gayle #6. Everyone had a victory. Ann won #7 and Gayle #9 to put them 2 up after nine.
Robyn won #11 and Ann #12. Gayle birdied #13 only to have Wanda par for a net birdie. Robyn parred #14 to win the hole despite the chip in by Gayle. Robyn won #15. All tied!!!
Wanda won #16 with a net par. Gayle follows that with a birdie on #17 to send the match to the final hole all tied up. Could it be tighter? With storm clouds brewing and distant thunder, we headed into the final hole. The match ended with a bogey putt by Wanda and Robyn to win the match. Wanda's lessons paid off! It was a great round with good friends and wonderful fun despite the excruciating heat and humidity.
The 19th hole was the best, celebrating at BV65.

MPM RED Tournament Results: Maslyk/Watson win 2 up and 1 vs. Glowinski/Styles
This was a close match all the way to the end! Watson/Maslyk got off to an early lead at Dogwood with a win on #2, only to be tied up by Styles with a par on #3. And so it went, back and forth, throughout the first nine, with Watson/Maslyk one up after nine. After four more holes tied, Glowinski tied the match up on #14 with a birdie! Maslyk won #15 to regain the lead. We tied 16 to stay one up. We knew going into 17, this was an important hole for both teams. None of us played #17 particularly well, but Watson, made a bogey to win the hole and the match. Great day and a great match with good friends!

MPM RED Tournament Results: Vines/Shy win 2 up and 1 vs. Wolter/Barloon
This was a lovely day to play golf in Bella Vista, amazing weather for August and Dogwood was in great shape! And best of all it was an awesome group of Ladies to play together.
Nancy started us off on the right foot by paring #1 and taking the hole by a stroke with a one putt off the green! The next 5 holes all ended in a tie, this is what Nancy and I expected, a really tight / tough match. Hole 7 and 8 we got it going and each took a hole with good play, had to play good cause Robyn and Wanda were hitting balls right with us all along the way! Hole 9 was a tie But Robyn started the back by taking hole 10. Wanda was not having her best day. But She never gave in to those feelings we all have on some days, making us want to say choice words and banging some clubs… She kept her composure and kept on trying to give her best and also support her partner! The next 3 holes were ties, with Wanda and Robyn both getting us on hole #14. That put us at only 1 up with 4 to go. Nancy and I started to get that uneasy feeling of your opponent gaining some momentum! We chatted each other up a little bit and I managed to take #15 with a par, I rarely par that whole… but I had a teammate giving me lots of positive vibes. We hung on to tie the next couple of holes and finished the match 2 up with 1 to play.
It was a fun match played by good friends on a great day in Wonderful Bella Vista. We are so thankful we have this place to live and these women to make it great!
We may have won the match but no way are we counting Robyn and Wanda out, this was their first loss and have lots of golf left to play!

21 holes for the win! Great day for golf at Dogwood. Peggy and Darla played hard, but Mary was unbeatable with her fantastic second shots! Mary and Marilyn were up by 1 after hole 17, but Darla came through with a Par on 18 to tie up the match. They went on to play 3 more holes before Mary and Marilyn won the match! Great day, good friends, and a whole lot of kidding went on.

MPM RED Tournament Results: Maslyk/Watson win 2 up and 1 vs. O'Dell/Gain
This was a tough, well-played match at Country Club. We were all Deliriously Conscious from the heat! Starting on #17, the match went back and forth, both teams winning and tying several holes. After both Maslyk and Watson went into the lake on #12, they conceded the hole, tying up the match after playing 14 holes. Maslyk/Watson pushed through to win #13, tied up #14 with pars, and won #15 to go 2 up with one to play. O'Dell had her work cut out for herself, having to give us all pops. But she rose to the occasion, playing a great game. In the end, it was a great match against worthy competitors!

MPM RED Tournament Results: Wolters/Barloon win 8 up after 11 vs. Glowinski/Styles at Country Club
It was a hot one! Glowinski’s ball thought it was on a safari today made its way through the jungle many times! It just was not their day for Golf! The company was good and was still better than a good day at work! The first hole might have been an omen because Tanya hit a tree and on the second shot hit the post on the way to the green! Luck was not their friend but we did see a large soft shell turtle! Thank you to Vicki for filling in for Becky Tipton (keeping your family in our prayers, Becky).
Barloon took advantage of a couple of her pops and she and Wolters ying and yanged their way to the finish! The 19th hole was great, though, and always fun to golf with friends!

MPM RED Tournament Results: Read/Bogner win 1 up after 18 vs. Smith/Purvis
Overall, the entire match was very fun and competitive. Everyone played hard and had great shots at the Country Club course.
The match started friendly enough with everyone playing to their handicaps and we tied the first hole. Gracie and DeeAnna hit the green on the second hole to par and win their first hole. Then, Gracie holed out on number 3 from about 40 yards out to win the second hole and we knew it was game on! Gracie and DeeAnna won the next hole and then Marg came alive on hole #5 to win after the rest of us hit our second shots into the water. Amy won the 6th hole with a nice shot on the green and 2 putts for par. The match continued back and forth for the next 4 holes. Then Read/Bogner strung together 2 wins on holes 11 and 12 to tie the match. DeeAnna hit a great approach shot on #6 that landed on the lower tier and then 2 putted for par to take the lead. Marg saved the Read/Bogner team with a clutch putt to win the hole after Amy lost her ball on the tee shot and carded an 8. DeeAnna and Amy parred 17 to stay tied for the last hole. Despite Amy’s short drive on the 18th hole, she stayed in the fairway and was able to get on the green in 3 shots and win the hole with 2 putt.

MPM Red Tournament Results - ROUND 2: Shy/Vines win 1 up after 21 holes vs. Clement/Schoenbaum
It was a great match! Hard fought, 21 holes to determine a winner! We all had some pretty awesome moments, and Nancy and I had some Golf God luck mixed with the skill 😜 and definitely needed our pops against Dori and Laurie… they showed why they were a lower handicap duo than us! Play started on #15 at the Country Club, both #15 and #16 we tied Dori/Laurie using a pop on each hole to match them. Dori got us on #17 with her first birdie. We tied 18, and Nancy got it going on #1 getting us back to even for the match. Then Dori stuck another shot within 3-4 feet on #2, while walking up to our chips I said to Nancy, we have to put it in to match Dori’s next birdie. And Nancy did just that, chipped in before Dori’s birdie putt to match the hole… keeping us even.
The following hole, we matched play again using a pop. Next hole I put together a string of good shots to birdie and get us up 1. Holes #5 and #6 we played even, then on #7 Nancy brought her chipping skills back into play, getting a 1-bounce chip in from the sand trap to tie the hole. For the next 2 holes, we stayed even, going back and forth between players, matching scores. On #10 we took another birdie, getting us to 2 up and it seemed like we were really taking full advantage of every opportunity we possibly could to slightly stay ahead of Dori and Laurie! Then Dori came storming back and took #11 and #12, making it even again. We took hole #13, and we were all tired and hot, and Nancy and I were just really hoping we would all just tie the next and so we could be done…. But of course NOT, Laurie was determined to make that putt for a par and win hole #14 to put us all square again! Dang It!
On we go back to play #15 for the second time, even hole, #16 an even hole, and finally #17, down to the last putts… Nancy and I finally took the last advantage one last time to take that hole! The match ended at 1 up after 21 holes of play! Hot, tired, but a very fun match between good friends! Both Teams deserved the win, and I think either team would have respected the other for getting the win!

Then Maslyk/Watson had a winning streak on #13, #14, and #15 to go 3 up. Maslyk sank a long putt on #17 for a sandy par, saving a tie. Aubele parred #18 to win one back, with hopes of keeping the match alive. Watson had a net par on #1 to close out the match at 3 up with 2 to go. Aubele said, "Maslyk/Watson played out of their a$$." But both teams held even on #16 and #17. Dinwoodie/Mullen ran out of holes after #17. Shelley/Hartman remained 2 up at that point, thus finishing the match at 2 up with 1 to go.
