The Master of Sustainable Design at UCSI University has been conceived to focus on issues and matters that surface with the creation of architecture, design, sustainable design, and their impact on existing built and natural environments while addressing specific issues of sustainability of our planet and its inhabitants. In line with the current trend in the practice of Malaysian architecture towards “green” approaches to design, and encouraged by legislation that demands a higher level of regard for sustainability, there is indeed a great need for the country to produce professional architects and built environment practitioners of the future who are aware of the ways buildings can affect the environment and who will be able to respond creatively, innovatively and sympathetically in the production or management of the built environment. The Master Sustainable Design programme at UCSI University seeks to affirm that architecture and sustainable design is best served by the pursuit of excellence in design and built environment, in all its diverse manifestations, supported by the study of a varied range of subjects.
