The goal of this module is to help educators understand and apply different student grouping strategies—flexible, strategic, and random—to enhance classroom engagement and learning outcomes. Participants will learn when and how to use each method effectively, reflect on their own practices, and develop practical grouping strategies they can confidently implement in their classrooms.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the key differences between flexible, strategic, and random grouping methods.
Identify when and why to use each grouping technique in different classroom contexts.
Apply grouping strategies through practical activities and reflection tasks.
Success Criteria:
Explain the differences between flexible, strategic, and random groups and when to use each one.
Choose the best grouping method for different classroom situations and explain why it fits.
Have at least one grouping strategy I feel confident to try in my classroom right away.
