Professor Sohail Inayatullah /sə'heɪl ɪnaɪʌ'tʊla/, a political scientist, is the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies at the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, IIUM, Malaysia. He is also a Professor at Tamkang University, Taipei (Graduate Institute of Futures Studies) and an Associate, Melbourne Business School, The University of Melbourne. From 2016 – 2020 he was the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies at USIM, Malaysia. From 2001-2020, he was an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. From 2011-2014, he was Adjunct Professor at the Centre for policing, counterterrorism and intelligence, Macquarie University, Sydney. In 1999, he was the UNESCO Chair in European Studies at the University of Trier, Germany.
In 2016, Professor Inayatullah was awarded the first UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies. In 2010, he was awarded the Laurel award for all-time best futurist by the Shaping Tomorrow Foresight Network. In March 2011, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. He received his doctorate from the University of Hawaii in 1990. Inayatullah has lived in Islamabad, Pakistan; Bloomington, Indiana; Flushing, New York; Geneva, Switzerland; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Brisbane and Mooloolaba, Australia.
Inayatullah is listed in the top two percent of the world's scientists as measured by the highest impact of citations. He has written more than 400 journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, and magazine editorials. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Futures Studies and serves on the editorial boards (or as a scientific advisor) of Futures, Prout Journal, World Future Review, World Futures, Futuribles, and Foresight. His work has been translated into a variety of languages, including Catalan, Spanish, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Indonesian, Farsi, Arabic, and Mandarin. Inayatullah has also written and co-edited twenty-six books/CD-ROMs, including CLA 3.0: Thirty Years of Transformative Research (with Ralph Mercer, Ivana Milojevic, and John A. Sweeney), What Works: Case Studies in the Practice of Foresight, and CLA 2.0: Transformative Research in Theory and Practice (2015, with Ivana Milojević). His latest (2018) books include Asia 2038: Ten Disruptions That Change Everything (in English, Mandarin, and Korean with Lu Na), Futures Thinking and Foresight: Why Foresight Matters for Policy Makers (with Susann Roth), and Infectious Futures: Reflections, Visions, and Worlds Through and Beyond COVID-19 (with Ramos, Black, and Sweeney).
Dr. Ivana Milojević (/ˈivənə mɪˈlɔɪəvɪtʃ/) is a researcher, writer, and educator with a transdisciplinary professional background spanning sociology, education, gender studies, peace and conflict studies, and futures studies. She is a senior lecturer at the Edinburgh Futures Institute. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Belgrade in 1992 and earned her PhD in education at the University of Queensland in 2003. Currently, she serves as the Director of Metafuture, a global think-tank, and Metafuture School, an online platform offering futures-oriented courses.
Since the mid-1990s, Ivana has been actively engaged in delivering speeches, facilitating workshops, and conducting research for various governmental institutions, international associations, and non-governmental organizations across diverse regions, including Asia-Pacific (e.g., Armenia, Australia, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Iran, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, and US-Hawaii), Africa (Morocco, South Africa), and Europe (Austria, Croatia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey). She has held academic positions at several universities, including the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia (Adjunct Professor, 2009-2015), University of Novi Sad, Serbia (Visiting Professor, 2008-2017), and Tamkang University, Taiwan (2015). In 2016-2017, she led the foresight unit at the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies in Brunei Darussalam. Since 2022, Ivana has served as a Senior Futures Thinking and Foresight Specialist/Consultant with the Asian Development Bank.
Dr. Jeanne Hoffman (/jEE-nee hɔ́fmən/) is an educator, researcher and political scientist, with a deep commitment to advancing foresight and futures literacy. Jeanne's professional journey is rooted in a transdisciplinary approach, encompassing economics, international relations, and futures studies. Her extensive experience spans diverse roles, including facilitating workshops across various governmental and educational institutions within Queensland and internationally.
From 2015 to 2023, Jeanne served as a professor at the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies (GIFS) and the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations at Tamkang University, Taiwan. She is currently an Adjunct Fellow in Futures Studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. In 2019, Jeanne was honored with the Exemplary Teaching Award at Tamkang University, a recognition given to only six out of 2000 faculty members, making her the first non-Taiwanese recipient of this prestigious award.
She was the managing editor of the Journal of Futures Studies from 2015 to 2022 and now serves as the co-editor of World Futures Review. Her work as a published author, presenter, organizer, mentor, and coach reflects her dedication to shaping the future of futures studies. Jeanne’s PhD by publication utilized the Six Pillars Analysis method to explore the futures of China, with her research featured in prominent publications such as the Global Future FITness Study 2023 and the Journal of Futures Studies.
Dr. Peter Black, editor of Infectious Futures: Reflections, Visions, and Worlds through and beyond COVID-19, and leading authority on the futures of pandemics, one health, and former expert with the Australian government, Department of Agriculture and FAO.
Kristel Griffiths is the Strategy and Foresight Adviser at the Pacific Community (SPC) in New Caledonia, where she facilitates strategic initiatives and delivery of strategic foresight capabilities to governments and regional strategies. In 2023, the Pacific Community received an Association of Professional Futurists Award for Most Significant Futures Work for the Pacific Pathfinder. In 2022, the Pacific Community was also awarded the organisation award for most significant contribution to the Asia Pacific Futures Network.
Dr Elissa Farrow, from About Your Transition is a futurist, author, facilitator, coach and strategist. She has over 25 years experience in research, organisational innovation, design, adaptation and benefits realisation. and has extensive experience in strategic organisational adaptation design and delivery. Her published doctoral research explored the implications of Artificial Intelligence on workplaces of the future. Dr Farrow is an Adjunct Fellow at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She is an experienced board director, and has held global leadership positions with the Change Management Institute as well as past chair of DVConnect a service preventing Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland.
Dr. Colin Russo is a futurist and CEO of Engaging Futures, based in Brisbane, Australia. He created the Unicity Method, a five-phase approach focused on unity, collaboration, and sustainable growth. His work spans systems of Social, Economic, Legislative, Environmental, Cultural, Technology, Industry, Organizations, Nowlgenesis, and Sustainability (SELECTIONS). Dr. Russo has extensive experience in policy development for Queensland Government and has presented keynotes for the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Sports Commission in preparation for the 2032 Olympic Games. He has consulted globally with the OECD, United Nations, and Climate and Health Alliance on sustainability. His book, The Unicity Method, introduces a framework for creating sustainable futures by transforming communities and systems. Known for mentoring emerging leaders and fostering community uplift, Dr. Russo’s expertise lies in values-driven futures, particularly in transforming health infrastructure. He is a sought-after speaker and consultant on both national and global stages.
As a futurist and change agent Willow Pryor is passionate about supporting organisations and leaders to create narratives and possibilities for sowing seeds of brighter, regenerative futures. Willow is a futurist, facilitator, storyteller, writer and mother of three. Her work has ranged from working with government, not for profits to individuals focussed on personal futures. Her current passion is exploring WILD futures where she explores de-colonizing the term wild to unleash imagination, sense new possibilities, navigate uncertainty, deconstruct current paradigms and ensure the well-being of future generations.
