Creating a gamified board game in two months for the Ateliers Humanicité, at Lomme.
The game was designed to raise awareness of parking problems among residents of the Hôpital Saint-Philibert area and to open up a debate on how to find solutions.
This project was made with Quentin Eudeline et Boyaval Vahl, and I took part in it as Game Designer and 2D Artist, notably on the board and on the cards.
Parking Panic is a versus / co-op board game for 2 to 6 players. It takes place in a fictional city where each players has to manage his how districts.
Each turn, waves of cars arrive and randomly park in one of the districts, but parking slots are limited.
Players must manage the arrival and departure of cars in their respective districts. Properly parked cars score points for the player, but cars that have no option but to park in prohibited places make the player lose points.
Players can use cards to clear their parking slots. If they can't manage their waves, they can also ask their opponents to help them by taking some of their cars and scoring bonus points.
The winner is the player whith the highest score at the end of the 8 waves. However, after the points have been counted, the players are also informed that all their scores are added together. Then, the result is compared with the scores of previous groups.
Players who have focused on helping each other and cooperating will always obtain higher scores.
