Our mission is to build a safer, stronger Mason County by preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from all hazards. We work hand-in-hand with residents, businesses, and government partners to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure. Through proactive planning, community education, and coordinated response, we strive to minimize the impacts of disasters and create a resilient future for everyone in Mason County.
Mason County OES serves as the umbrella organization for:
Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) – hazard mitigation, floodplain management, and emergency preparedness.
Mason County 911 Communications Center – providing dispatch services for police, fire, and EMS.
Mason County EMS – delivering emergency medical services throughout the county.
Hazard Mitigation & Planning: Maintain and implement the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, working to reduce future disaster risks.
Floodplain & Building Permits: Administer floodplain management and building permitting processes to ensure safe development.
Emergency Operations: Activate and operate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during disasters, coordinating with state and federal agencies.
Preparedness & Training: Provide training, exercises, and outreach to ensure first responders and residents are ready for emergencies.
Response & Recovery: Coordinate disaster response and help the community recover quickly and effectively.
