Career Goal Narrative
When I was little, I always thought that computers were cool! That's why I would like to pursue a job in software engineering. My parents have always told me to pursue a career that I would enjoy doing, and I love working with computers and learning about all the different codes and parts. This field also has a high demand and will pay lots of money, which unabashedly has helped my decision. The Engineering program at the Tech Center will give me more insight into all different aspects and related career paths, and will help expand my knowledge of software engineering.
The main courses that I have taken in the computer software field are Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A. I have briefly looked into a few online code courses and played around in Unity's game design program. On top of that, I am a very good math student, currently enrolled in Algebra 2. New math concepts come to me rather easily. My understanding of both math and computer science will help me during this engineering course.
Outside of school, I am also an avid sports player. I play basketball and run track. Playing sports all my life has taught me the importance of leadership. The most successful teams always have a leader who can pull the team together and keep them focused and on task. A leader is also someone who can direct a team through proper communication. Both of these qualities of leadership are something I possess. Sports have also taught me grit and the importance of working to the absolute maximum to achieve goals. A key memory I have is getting cut from the middle school basketball team; however, during the offseason, I worked really hard to achieve my goal of playing on the varsity basketball team. Through my hard work, I earned a spot on the roster as a freshman.
After my high school graduation, I plan on attending a four year college/university to major in software engineering. One of my biggest dreams is to play college sports. I want to hopefully get a scholarship to a school for track and field. This would allow me to do the things I love doing , while going to college to pursue my dream job. I plan on staying at the four year university for all years of my college sports eligibility. Any other training or education I need, I plan on getting through internships or class experiences.
